Self Service Password Reset (SSPR)
In compliance with the recent requirement to use 16-character passwords, Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) is replacing myPassword as CUIMC’s self-help tool for CUIMC email and MC domain account password management.

Create a Strong Passphrase
- It must have a Minimum length of 16 characters.
- It must have a Maximum length of 64 characters.
- It must be different from the last three passwords.
- Avoid reusing parts of previous passwords.
- Avoid CUIMC-related terms such as "Columbia," "CUIMC," or other common terms.
- Avoid using the same password for different accounts.
- Odd but memorable combinations of sentences or phrases are suggested.
- Passphrases that include lowercase/uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters are suggested but not required. See tips for creating memorable passphrases.
To reset your password or unlock your account:
New Users:
If you haven’t used your CUIMC email account yet, please follow the steps below:
- Select the "Enroll in SSPR" button to initiate account activation.
- For username: yourUNI@cumc.columbia.edu (your email address.)
- For password: use the temporary password you received.
- You will be prompted to set a new password. Please see the Passphrase Requirements above.
- Complete the SSPR registration as indicated.
